Name: Bruce Harwood
Born: April 29, 1963
Place: North Vancouver, British Columbia
After graduating from UBC with a BFA degree in acting in 1986, he joined the
UBC's summer theatre repertory company composed of graduate students. It was hard work,
putting in six-day weeks for minimum wage to get theatre experience.
His break came in January of '87, when he was asked back to UBC to take the lead in
Moliere's 17th century play. The School for Wives. A casting director in the
audience was delighted by Harwood's performance and had him audition for EarthStar
Voyager. The producers also liked what they saw, and Harwood began his professional career
as Dr. Leland Eugene of the EarthStar Voyager.
This led to other parts, including a recurring guest spot on McGyver -- and to his most
famous role to date: John Fitzgerald Byers of the X-Files and the Lone Gunmen series.
Mr. Harwood is a dedicated supporter of Amnesty International, loves reading, skiing, a
wide variety of music, and classic movies.
Favorite music: Jazz, classical, some techno music -- and Dead Can Dance.
